Dr. Olsofka (Click to watch bio) is a native of Kentucky and did his general surgery training at the University of Louisville. He is a fellow with the American College of Surgeons and Clinical Instructor with the University of Louisville. He has been with the practice since 1999 with clinical and research focus in advanced laparoscopy. Dr. Olsofka has a specific interest in Laparoscopic Bariatric Surgery and has helped pioneer one of the first Lap-Band Specialty programs in the nation for which he serves as director. To date the program has performed over 4000 laparoscopic bariatric procedures. The bariatric program is nationally recognized as a training center for Lap-Band surgeons. The center now accommodates three Bariatric surgeons and performs 10 -12 Lap-Band procedures a week on an outpatient basis. Dr Olsofka manages every aspect of the bariatric patient’s care as well as the business aspect and patient recruitment. Dr Olsofka is currently involved an international, prospective study on the Lap-band. Recently Dr Olsofka was selected as one of the first ten clinicians nationally to be trained in the use of the newly developed, endoscopically placed, Intragastric Balloon. In addition to bariatric surgery, Dr Olsofka has developed on-site training clinics for laparoscopic inguinal and ventral hernias and is a nationally recognized speaker on advanced minimally invasive hernia surgery. To date, he has performed over 550 laparoscopic inguinal and over 1500 laparoscopic ventral hernia repairs.

Dr. Vincent Lusco III (Click to watch biograduated from the University of Texas at Austin and completed medical school at the Universtiy of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio in 1998. He completed his training in general surgery at the University of Louisville where he received extensive training in advanced laparoscopy and bariatric procedures, including assisting Dr. Jeff Allen with the placement of the first laparoscopic adjustable gastric band in May 2001. He joined Louisville Surgical Associates in July 2003, and along with Dr. Olsofka developed the bariatric program at Sts. Mary and Elizabeth Hospital. Dr. Lusco is a board certified general surgeon and belongs to the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery, The Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons, as well as the Kentucky Medical Association, the Louisville Surgical Society, and Greater Louisville Medical Society. He was awarded during his residency with the Abrahms-Waterman award for the most compassionate surgical resident, and in 2010 was recognized by Louisville Magazine as a Top Surgeon by his peers. In addition to participating in national and international prospective studies involving the Allergan AP LAP-BAND®, he also trains surgeons throughout the Midwest and East Coast on how to safely place LAP-BANDs® and develop successful programs.
